CHAMPAGNE HARVEST – MONTAGNE DE REIMS, FRANCE

Like in many areas of France, the 2013 grape harvest in Champagne has begun later than usual.
After a cold winter and spring, luckily the summer has been sunny and now the grapes are finally ripen.
This year, Mother Nature dealt the legendary Champagne Montagne de Reims a fantastic hand, so even with a late harvest there is plenty to celebrate. This just might be the best harvest in the last 17 years similar to the 1996 harvest which was the best in the last 30 years.
The maturation of the grapes are quite late compared to past few years due to the climate conditions. The grape harvest in our region is starting in the beginning of October and will last about 2 weeks.
The taste of the grapes of pinot Noir this year is nice, fruity and balanced.
